History of Harvest Farm of Whately

Harvest Farm of Whately is in a small town located in Western Massachusetts near the Connecticut River.

In 1979, the farm started with 8 acres and one greenhouse.  We grew a little of everything with a focus on farmer's markets and a few distributors.

As time passed we expanded until we currently market wholesale plants and produce to supermarkets, distributors and produce markets in New England with a presence in other northeast states.

Today, we have about 150 acres of crops. Our main crops are collards, kale, mustard greens, turnip tops, chard, parsley, tomatoes, watermelons, and spearmint.  We have been growing brussels sprouts, specialty eggplants and other ethnic vegetables.

In our greenhouses, we produce many varieties of potted herbs and flowers along with vegetable transplants for farmers and vegetable starts for retailers.  Also, we sell greenhouse supplies as well.

Harvest Farm of Whately is a partnership of Gary Gemme and David Wojciechowski.  Davey manages the greenhouses and Gary manages the fields.
